PHIL Thus far, I have thoroughly enjoyed the mindset that this book emphasizes. The idea that risk is not the same as volatility (impairment of capital), and that our job as investors is to survive bad states while remaining positioned for good ones, is very insightful. Furthermore, I am currently learning about what margin of safety truly means in an investing context (compounding through drawdowns rather than chasing beta). I thoroughly enjoy books that offer a playbook/framework for dealing with market cycles and this book has excelled at that.

PHIL I began reading this book casually in October of 2025. The emphasis on learning/absorbing your craft, understanding the game's incentives, and getting the much-needed reps in has helped me in my approach to research. We as humans often forget to assess our own human capital ROIC. This book has done a good job of helping me understand how to make the most of my mentor's experiences (creating feedback loops) and that being a master of your craft is entirely dependent on your process.

Math Beyond Math being my favorite subject, I really enjoy learning about the drivers behind modern math and physics. This book is more of a preparation/learning toolkit for building intuition on how geometrical/algebraic objects (e.g., manifolds, coordinates, tangent space/vectors, tensors, etc.) fit together. I begun reading in late December of 2025.
